JULIE SHURTZ MUYLDERMANS
My original idea for the 9 villas was to bring water from the ancient Roman aqueduct on site, placing bungalows alongside a stream where guests could swim. Artists and musicians who frequently visit the domaine could stay and create works, even in a collaborative way, like some select hotels known in my home in California. Architecturally the villas would connect by a ribbon of color in Kapilux® glass in a part of each villa rippling through the site.
My first house idea was to straddle the various architectural elements over and within the terrain at the lush plot 1 at the entry to the ridge. The model landscape was created with layers from a watercolor I made.
